Aidan Keeley capped off a productive couple of days in South Wales by riding out his claim on Hugo Palmer’s newcomer Native Souvenir.

Keeley, whose 46-1 treble at the track on Thursday began with success on Palmer’s Herecomesthebear, brought up a landmark 95th career success when getting Native Souvenir up to deny the Silvestre de Sousa-ridden Times Edition by a short head in the mile fillies’ maiden.

The 20-1 shot was Keeley’s 87th victory in Britain, adding to the seven winners that helped him to be crowned Jersey’s champion jockey in 2021, and a winner in Italy last year.

Keeley, who had his first domestic ride in 2020, told Sky Sports Racing: “I feel like I’ve progressed through it steady. I’ve been lucky enough to keep getting more winners each year.

“I’ve got a good agent behind me, Jack Hind. He’s got a good book of apprentices and I joined him earlier in the year – he’s been really good with me.”

Keeley was based at Gary Moore's stable when he won the 2022 Cambridgeshire on Mick Channon’s Majestic before relocating to Newmarket in February last year.

“I’m based with Roger Varian, whose horse I just beat [Times Edition] there,” said the 23-year-old, adding: "Hopefully, going forward I can continue to get support from him.”

Ellison's fab five

Brian Ellison’s superb run of form continued with victories for Pearl Sands and Solar Bentley. The trainer's last five runners have all won, and all of them were ridden by Ben Robinson.
