Prague 7-1 for QEII after giving Dylan Cunha his biggest British victory in Joel Stakes

Former pilot Dylan Cunha was flying high on day two of the Cambridgeshire meeting after Prague gave the trainer his biggest win in Britain when running away with feature Group 2 Joel Stakes.

The success of the 100-30 chance completed a remarkable rags-to-riches tale as the four-year-old was a Ballydoyle castoff who was bought for just 10,000gns less than a year ago.

Also remarkable was that his owner, Amadeo Dal Pos, collected the prize for winning groom as he led up the son of Galileo and is head lad at Cunha's yard at Phantom House Stables on Newmarket's Fordham Road.

In the four-runner contest, Danny Tudhope attempted to anchor Prague behind pacesetting Poker Face early on, but decided to switch and let him stride on at halfway to devastating effect.

Despite his free-running antics, Prague still had enough in hand to go clear out of the Dip and win by three and three-quarter lengths.

Dal Pos said: "This is unbelievable. I never dreamed I would be winning a Group 2 when we bought him. I've worked for John Gosden for five years before joining Dylan. Me and my friend picked him up unraced and he's still a big baby, but he's improving."

Cunha's landlord William Jarvis was among the first to congratulate him on his biggest domestic victory and the trainer may well attempt to emulate his South Africa Group 1 successes at Ascot next month.

Cunha said: "We may have to think about supplementing Prague for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day. We knew he would be competitive after he worked nicely on the watered gallop next to the track the other day."

Paddy Power reacted by introducing Prague into their QEII betting at 7-1.

Bubbling under for the Classics

Bubbling was cut for a host of Group 1 targets after proving an able deputy for stablemate Ecstatic when giving trainer Aidan O'Brien a record-equalling fourth win in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes.

The daughter of No Nay Never looked beaten in the Dip before Ryan Moore got a tune out of her to win going away from Serving With Style, completing a treble for the jockey in the first three races on the card.

Bubbling was cut to 16-1 (from 50) by Paddy Power for next year's 1,000 Guineas and to 6-1 (from 16) for the bet365 Fillies' Mile back at Newmarket next month.

O'Brien was not present, but said: "We were delighted with Bubbling as she was a bit unlucky at Leopardstown last time. She obviously handles easy ground but I don't think she'll run again this year."

Royal repeat

Time Lock emulated multiple Group 1 winner Journey when landing back-to-back runnings of the Group 3 Princess Royal Stakes in decisive fashion.

The field was reduced from eight to five, but the daughter of Frankel may well have won had all intended runners stood their ground given the way she came clear of Comic Book from the Bushes under Moore.

Assistant trainer Roger Charlton said: "There's the Hong Kong Vase in December which didn't get many runners last year, and if she could get Group 1-placed over there it would be a fitting end to her career."

Sirona overcomes ground concerns

A total of 32mm of rain on Thursday and Friday morning resulted in 27 non-runners, including two in the Listed Rosemary Stakes.

The mile contest was won by the well-backed 6-4 favourite (from 5-2) Sirona, who was having, according to David Menuisier, a "rehearsal for the Sun Chariot", a race in which the trainer could also be represented by Tamfana.

Menuisier said: "She had shown so much form on good ground that I wasn't sure beforehand, but she did it well and deserved that having knocked on the door a few times.

"We have a big hope in the Sun Chariot next week and this was a rehearsal if you like. I don't know if this filly will run again this year but she stays in training so is something to look forward to next year."
