O'Brien remarks prove spot on as Ryan shows why he's about to become champion

Donnacha O'Brien said this about Gavin Ryan back in April: "I think he's a very promising young rider. He's clever, he's sharp, he's got a good brain, he's strong, he's good with both hands and, you know, some lads just come through and you can see the way they think and you know they have a chance of being proper riders. I think he's one that everyone can see that in."
Fast-forward six months and Ryan is about to be crowned Ireland's champion apprentice for the first time.
A 44-1 double at the third-last Flat fixture of the season brought his tally to 48 for the campaign. The season comes to a conclusion at Naas on Saturday where the young rider will pick up his award.
