How refreshing it is to be talking about the horses rather than the draw after the Qipco 2,000 Guineas produced a winner with the sort of credentials that make him a worthy favourite for the Investec Derby next month.

Too often a splitting field provides as many questions as answers in the Guineas but, with the stalls on the stands' side and the field staying largely as one, only connections of Kenzai Warrior, who was down on his nose leaving the stalls, had any genuine cause for complaint.

Kameko deserves plenty of credit, for he was drawn in what appeared to be the box seat in 15 but had to angle well off the rail to find racing room and ended up challenging alone towards the centre of the track.
