New trainer Jack Morland 'over the moon' after Angel Of Antrim makes it four straight winners in six days
Rookie trainer Jack Morland saddled his fourth consecutive winner in the last six days when Angel Of Antrim sealed a hat-trick in the 7f handicap.
The Newmarket-based Morland saddled his first runners in November and has an eyecatching strike-rate of 36 per cent (5-14).
Angel Of Antrim, who is owned by Colin Bacon and Derek Lovatt, has recorded all three wins for the trainer at Newcastle and scored by two and a half lengths under Andrew Mullen. He could be back in action at Wolverhampton on Saturday.
Morland, who has eight horses in his all-weather team, said: “I’m over the moon with how it’s going. I wanted to try to get as many horses in training as possible and get runners out there and hopefully get my name noticed, so I’m fortunate to have the support of my owners and everything has fallen right.
“Angel Of Antrim loves Newcastle and the seven-furlong trip, while the visor has really sharpened him up. His confidence is up and if he’s fresh and well then I will look to run him again on Saturday.”
On the scoresheet
Newmarket trainer Andi Brown boosted his Newcastle strike-rate to 38 per cent (3-8) when ending a 569-day wait for a winner with the Dylan Hogan-ridden Jimmy Knocker in division two of the 6f handicap.
Pedigree pointer
