Never in our lives have we seen anything like it - Snowfall reigns in the rain
With each passing hour it appeared the weather would provide the principal talking point this Cazoo Oaks day. So it proved to be, but, thank heavens, not due to the rain. What became a momentous Classic afternoon was all about the most extraordinary Snowfall.
Underfoot conditions dictated this was a very different sort of test to the one we anticipated, yet it is not the first time the Oaks has been staged in the mud. No matter what the ground, never before had any horse come remotely close to winning by the astonishingly wide 16-length margin that sent Snowfall into the record books and the heart of Frankie Dettori.
Nor was this simply a first for the Oaks.
