Never Equalled lands prize for Tompsett and Llewellyn

Isabel Tompsett, the amateur jockey left in a coma following a horror fall at Fakenham six years ago, could not hide her joy after finally making it into the winner's enclosure at her local track.

Tompsett suffered career-ending head injuries in the fall which caused her to stop breathing twice – doctors resuscitated her twice on the track – and left her fighting for her life.

But throughout her recovery she was determined to stay involved in racing, and while her days in the saddle are over, she is now looking to make it as an owner and Never Equalled's all-the-way success in the 2m4f handicap hurdle helped light up a day shrouded in mist and rain.
