Not Never has a way to go to be as good as 133-rated stablemate Knocknanuss, who also carries the vivid blue and orange silks of John Hail, Rodger Sargent and David Evans, but he certainly looks like a horse destined for bigger things after slamming his rivals by 16 lengths in the feature 2m handicap hurdle.
His enthusiastic bunch of owners had scarves made in advance of Knocknanuss’ Betfair Hurdle bid, where things didn’t go anything like according to plan, but the neckwear didn’t have to wait too long before brightening up the winner's enclosure as Not Never, trained by Gary Moore, justified strong market support in the £11,000 contest.
Sargent, who owned Moore’s 2004 Cheltenham Festival winner Tikram, said: “We got the scarves for Knocknanuss in the Betfair Hurdle and we very nearly burnt them all afterwards, but I’m glad we kept them for today.
