More magic from Moore on a spine-tingling afternoon to make you proud of our sport
Ryan Moore is ridiculous. Let's get that out of the way before we go any further. He has now ridden 11 winners from 13 rides on his last three visits to the Curragh. Ridiculous.
Some of them were shoo-ins, but some of them weren't, and what he did on Wigmore Street in the Paddy Power Supporting Cancer Trials Irish Cambridgeshire had to be seen to be believed. In fact, I didn't believe my eyes the first time, so I needed to see a replay for proof.
A big drifter beforehand, all the way out to 22-1 from morning shows of around 9-1, Wigmore Street was stone-bonking-last with a furlong and a half to run. Moore had every single one of his 23 rivals in front of him. It was impossible to win from there. Wrong. He angled out to the wide outside and got there right on the line. It was the final leg of an 82-1 four-timer. He won the first three races on Acapulco Bay, Dreamy and Ides Of March.
