Moore, Moore, Moore at Lingfield as Gary and sons mop up the bumpers
Gary Moore was forced to change his mind over the value of replacement jumpers' bumpers fixtures after celebrating a treble at the second meeting of its type in 2021 at the Surrey track.
Ten days after scoring with Jumping Cats at the first substitute meeting, the Sussex trainer was back for more with the same horse, who overcame a 6lb penalty under his son Jamie.
Moore, who earlier registered victory on the card with Esprit De Somoza, completed a treble when ex-Flat racer Royaume Uni blitzed home to complete a double for other son Josh.
Moore said: "We've had three winners today and it should have been five. I must be the biggest hypocrite going as when the BHA asked my opinion about putting these meetings on I said not to bother!
"It's great for us as it's just down the road and effectively you are getting paid for galloping."
Another Supa victory
A jumpers' bumper replacement fixture could not have been better scripted for four-time winning hurdler Supakalanistic, who has been splitting his time on the Flat and over jumps as of late.
Sam Twiston-Davies was in the saddle rather than Tom Queally this time aboard the 7-4 favourite, who was victorious for the jockey's father and trainer Nigel following his recent second under a penalty on the Flat at Kempton.
The winning rider said: "It was great they put this race on for Supakalanistic and it was nice to get back on board. I think it was Tom's idea to run him and hopefully this will be a tonic for syndicate members Charles and Alison, who haven't been too well of late."
Scu scoots home
Santini's sister Kimmins made her debut in the bumper restricted to four-to-six-year-olds, but proved no match for 33-1 shot Robelli and could only stay on to finish a one-paced fourth.
Despite the starting price the victory was no surprise to Tom Scudamore, who partnered the son of Getaway on his sole start at Warwick last winter.
"I liked him when I rode him in a bumper at Warwick last season and you could see he had strengthened up a lot since then in the paddock," Scudamore said of the Ian Williams-trained gelding.
"They can come from off the pace to win these bumpers here but he'd have won however I'd ridden him today. He was different class."
McGrath taken to hospital
Jerry McGrath was taken to Brighton hospital for x-rays after coming off worst in a three-horse pile-up in the last.
Riding the evens favourite Vegas Blue, McGrath's mount appeared to clip heels and go down in a melee on the home turn that also involved Perfect Percy (Jordan Nailor) and Lord Howard (Alexander Thorne).
All three horses escaped serious injury and Nailor and Thorne were no more than battered and bruised afterwards, with Vegas Blue's trainer Nicky Henderson tweeting that McGrath was feeling similarly roughed up and was undergoing precautionary x-rays.
