The colours of 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run paid another visit to the winner's enclosure after Lust For Glory landed the 2m4f mares' novice chase for trainer Nicky Henderson and owners the Waley-Cohen family.

Those connections have enjoyed great success together down the years and were on target again as Lust For Glory ran out a comfortable three-and-three-quarter-length winner over Danse Idol.

The eight-year-old had been engaged in a battle with 13-8 favourite Liberty Bella before a crashing fall at the second-last eliminated her main rival.

Jockey James Bowen, who took the ride with regular jockey Sam Waley-Cohen currently unable to ride due to restrictions on amateurs, told Racing TV: "We'll never know what the result might have been but she's very genuine and I'm sure she'd have kept picking up.

"I let her run with a circuit to go because they weren't going a great gallop and I knew she would stay all day. She's a laid-back sort but when it comes down to it she's very genuine."

Williams on form

Venetia Williams made the short trip to Ludlow more than worthwhile with a double from her only two runners of the day.

Frenchy Du Large won the 2m5f handicap hurdle at odds of 7-2 under Robbie Dunne before the reliable Subcontinent followed up in the 3m conditional jockeys' handicap chase under Rex Dingle.

Speaking after the victory of Frenchy Du Large, Williams said: "He's going to be one for fences next season but we thought we'd pick up a hurdle race on the way. Andrew [Wiles, owner] has been very patient with his horses for us, so I'm pleased for him."
