Leicester: 'He deserves a big race' - Cheltenham Festival possible for Harris handicapper Jacamar
Jacamar could be in line for some big-race handicap targets in the spring, including potentially at the Cheltenham Festival, following his stylish victory in the feature 2m4f handicap chase.
The Milton Harris-trained eight-year-old maintained his unbeaten record over course and distance when returning to winning ways under Paddy Brennan, with 100-1 shot The Big Lense a length and a quarter back in second.
Jacamar's success could set up a possible tilt at the Plate on the third day of the festival on March 16, while he is entered in the Coral Chase at Kempton this month.
Harris said: "He's ultra consistent, always runs his race and ran really well in a hot handicap last time. We've always thought he might stay three miles but this might be his trip, we've stuck a visor on him the last twice and that has helped. Paddy gave him a great ride.
"He deserves a big-race or Saturday win. I stuck him in the Coral Chase at Kempton earlier in the week and it's certainly a possibility he goes to Cheltenham too. He's such a solid horse."
Brennan doubled up when Accidental Legend secured a hat-trick in the concluding 2m4½f handicap hurdle.
Third's a charm
Cuthbert Dibble made it third time lucky at the track when an easy winner of the 2m4½f novice hurdle under Sam Twiston-Davies.
Third on his previous two starts at the course, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained five-year-old made no mistake this time prevailing by 19 lengths.
