Lake Victoria provided Aidan O’Brien with a record fifth win in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes when powering to victory under Ryan Moore.

The daughter of Frankel had won her first three starts over seven furlongs, including the Moyglare Stakes at the Curragh only 13 days ago

However, the drop back to six furlongs proved no issue to the 6-4 favourite, who streaked clear to record back-to-back Group 1 successes.

French challenger Daylight chased home the winner while Phoenix Stakes winner Babouche disappointed back against her own sex, losing her unbeaten record when finishing fourth under Colin Keane.

Lake Victoria was cut to 7-4 (from 5-1) for the 1,000 Guineas back at Newmarket by Betfair. The same firm shortened her to 5-4 favourite (from 9-2) for next month's Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar.

O’Brien only broke his Cheveley Park duck in 2016 with Brave Anna’s win and after Lake Victoria emulated the likes of Clemmie, Fairyland and Tenebrism, the Ballydoyle trainer said: “Coming back to six [furlongs] was not an easy thing to do.

“We had in our heads before the Moyglare that she could come back here. Ryan gave her a very uncomplicated ride and she quickened very well.”

Lake Victoria made a successful debut under Moore in a fillies’ maiden at the Curragh in June before Sean Levey and Wayne Lordan helped her continue her perfect record in the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes and Moyglare respectively.

O’Brien said: “She was obviously very classy, always. We thought when she went to the Curragh the first day she was very classy and she won.

“She came from the Curragh back here for a Group race. Sean loved her and Wayne loved her the last day.

“Ryan said to come back here for the Fillies’ Mile. I don’t know whether you could go from seven back up to six and then back up to a mile. We’ll see, it’ll be dependent on whatever the lads want to do really.”
