David Williams set his sights on Welsh racing's biggest prize after getting in the mood for Christmas with a winner at his local track.

The Swansea-based owner was on hand to greet Oxwich Bay back into the winner's enclosure after the promising five-year-old made light work of his rivals in the 2m4f novice hurdle.

The Evan Williams-trained winner is named after one of the beaches where the owner walks his dog. The other beach where he takes him for a walk is Pobbles Bay and the horse of that name is one of the market leaders for next week's Coral Welsh Grand National at Chepstow.
