James Bowen celebrates bagging Oasis tickets by scoring on Roll With It
James Bowen scrambled for the lucrative Oasis reunion tickets on Saturday and a day later won on a horse named after one of the band's biggest hits, Roll With It, in the 2m7f handicap chase.
The 4-1 joint-favourite sprinted clear in the closing stages to score by ten lengths. It was a second victory this season for the Peter and Mickey Bowen-trained runner, who also struck at Cartmel in June.
Roll With It joined the Bowens having been sold by music-mad Phil Cunningham, who has another jumper named after Oasis's smash hit Wonderwall.
The rider was one of the lucky ones to get a ticket to the band's reunion tour next summer, which sold out within hours. He will attend the gig with brothers Sean and Mickey.
"I definitely won't be going! The boys all got tickets on Saturday but it's not for me," Peter Bowen joked. "Roll With It pulled up lame the last day but he was right again here.
"He won nicely at Cartmel earlier in the season but that was a massive step forward, he's improved a lot for chasing and he jumped well. I'm very happy as it's come for Jayne and Gwyn Brace, who are very good owners."
Shark strikes
Shark Hanlon enjoyed his first winner in Britain this season as Brilliant Light held off Scintillante to strike in the 2m maiden hurdle by a head.
The 11-8 favourite was useful on the Flat when trained by Saeed bin Suroor, having finished fourth at Royal Ascot and second at Glorious Goodwood. He got off the mark over hurdles at the third attempt.
