Pat Cosgrave notched his 1,000th win in Britain when he landed Bath's Summer Stayers' Series Final aboard 11-1 shot Dynamiste.

The majority of the jockey's recent biggest winners have come in the Middle East as well as Australia, Sweden and Norway, but he was thrilled to reach the landmark just under 20 years on from his first winner.

Among the 1,000 are Group 1 sprint victories aboard Society Rock, Borderlescott and Markab, while he has reached a tally of 26 for this season. That includes the Stewards' Cup success of Get It at Glorious Goodwood last month.

Cosgrave said: "It's been a while but we got there. The kids rang me to congratulate me, which is great, and it's nice that they're old enough to understand what's going on.

"I'm away for six months of the year in Dubai but I'd like to get a few more winners, this is the place I call home. Racing is a quick game and nobody waits around, so it's on to Windsor tomorrow.

"Other people will make a bigger deal of it than I will. I've had some great days and hopefully there will be a few more of them."

The Kevin Philippart de Foy-trained filly surged home late to take the first of the two £30,000 finals. Dynamiste had won one of the last qualifiers at the track on her previous start.

"The prize-money was great and that's the way it should be," added Cosgrave. "I like the way she stayed at it, she was tough at the end. It didn't quite go to plan but she's a good filly and will get two miles."
