'It's not every day you're flicking through form and see second to Ballyburn' - classy Jetara claims Listed honours on return

Graded scorer Jetara made a winning return to action when she came out on top in a photo-finish for the Listed 2m7f mares' hurdle.

The Jessica Harrington-trained six-year-old struck at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting last year before finishing second to Ballyburn at the Punchestown festival, and bounced back to winning ways with a narrow victory over 18-1 shot Royal Eagle.

"It's great to ride a quality mare like this, it's not every day you're flicking through form and see second to Ballyburn," jockey Donagh Meyler told Racing TV. "It's a pleasure to put my leg across her and ride for the trainer and owner [Gerry McGrath]. Hopefully there's plenty more to come.

"She switched off then stuck out her head and did what she had to do, and jumped fluently throughout. It's grand to see her settling like that and hopefully she'll come on for it."

Jetara's success was one of two Listed triumphs at the Munster track on Saturday, with the 2m5f novice hurdle won by another promising type in World Of Fortunes.

Jordan Gainford piloted the mare smoothly into the lead over the second-last flight for a six-length success over Just For Love, maintaining World Of Fortune's unbeaten record over hurdles.

Shock success

Champion Stakes hero Anmaat was not the only 40-1 winner on Saturday as Redcliff Glen triumphed at the same odds in the 2m½f handicap hurdle.

The Charles Byrnes-trained gelding had not managed better than third in ten previous starts but finally got off the mark with a neck success over Morepowertoya.
