'It's a long way but I enjoy coming here' - Jack Tudor makes another successful foray with Chemical Warfare
David Pipe and Jack Tudor's terrific course records continued when Chemical Warfare impressively landed the 3m2½f handicap chase.
The seven-year-old scored over the track and trip last month and made the near 650-mile round trip from Devon worthwhile again with an easy six-length victory.
He took the trainer's strike-rate at the track to 30 per cent, while Tudor is operating at a 43 per cent strike-rate there in the saddle.
The winning jockey told Sky Sports Racing: "He loves this place. He enjoys the sharp track and we're not into the depths of winter, so they weren't going into the ground too deep, and he enjoyed that too.
"It's a long way up but I quite enjoy coming here. You want to be coming here with those that have a chance, so long may it continue."
It was a fourth win of the season already for Chemical Warfare and connections are eager to make hay while he is fine fettle.
"There are loads of options for a horse like him up this neck of the woods and down south nearer to us too," Tudor said. "As long as he stays in good form, then there's plenty more fun to be had in staying chases with nice prize-money."
The pair just failed to double up when Pub Crawl was runner-up to Balranald in the 2m1f handicap hurdle.
On the mark
Jockey Peter Kavanagh enjoyed his first winner since August aboard Topkapi Star in the 2m4f handicap hurdle.
