Dianne Sayer matched last season’s tally of five Flat winners when both of her runners obliged for a 78-1 double.

Sayer’s decision to book Kaiya Fraser for the first time paid off when the jockey steered the trainer’s Jackhammer to a short-head victory in the mile handicap.

After securing a first success at the Scottish track on the 20-1 shot, Fraser was narrowly denied by Jackhammer’s stablemate Savrola in the 1m4½f handicap.

The five-year-old justified 11-4 favouritism under Paul Mulrennan, winning by a neck from Fraser’s mount Spanish Hustle.

“We’ve struggled to find the key with Savrola but Paul obviously found that key,” said Sayer. “It’s great to get a winner for Tony White because he’s been a very loyal owner.”

Sayer was also pleased Jackhammer was winning for the first time at owner Dennis Coppola’s local track.

“Kaiya’s agent [James Forrest] has done a great job,” she said. “He’s asked me time and time again. I’m a very big fan of Paul Mulrennan, but it was just the obvious time to use Kaiya, he’s on the crest of a wave, so it was great to capitalise on him.”

Worthwhile journey

Master Technician made the near 950-mile round trip from Rod Millman’s Devon yard to the Scottish venue worthwhile when getting off the mark at the fourth attempt in the feature 7f maiden.

Winning rider Callum Rodriguez later completed a double on another 13-8 favourite when Molten Sea landed the 2m handicap for William Haggas.
