'I think she's going to be a grand filly' - Pretty Lavish powers home on debut for Natalia Lupini and Wayne Lordan at Gowran

Pretty Lavish landed the biggest pot of the day, making the 500km round journey from County Down to Gowran worthwhile when she thundered home to land the 1m½f fillies' maiden on her debut under Wayne Lordan.

The 20-1 shot could be another promising juvenile for Natalia Lupini, who saddled Kitty Rose to Listed success last season, as the Ribchester filly handled the soft ground with aplomb en route to an authoritative length-and-a-quarter success over I Can Imagine, despite suffering interference after the field turned towards home.

Lordan had nowhere to go on the inside on board the winner early in the straight as the pair suffered a bump but once he spied a gap approaching the furlong pole, they pounced and Pretty Lavish powered home on the far side, doing her best work at the finish.

The rider said: "She's a filly they like and she has a lovely pedigree. She’s quite tall and they thought she might be a bit weak on that ground. I think she’s going to be a grand filly next year and she feels like she's going to stay well.

"We went a good gallop and I got a good run down the inside. The rail helped her and she won well."

Lordan was out of luck on 4-6 favourite Light As Air in the preceding contest but he secured a double in the penultimate maiden over 1m1½f which the Aidan O'Brien-trained favourite Iseult Of Ireland turned into a procession, bolting eight and a half lengths clear to get off the mark at the sixth attempt.

Chica lands punt

Chica Guerrera landed plenty of bets in the opening 7f nursery when Keithen Kennedy steered her to a cosy two-and-a-quarter-length success for trainer Mark Fahey.

The Saxon Warrior filly had four runs in maidens, the latest at this track last month when eighth of 11 but the return to soft ground and step back in distance seemed to work the oracle. Her morning price tumbled from 8-1 into 11-8 and although she drifted back out to 7-2 favourite before the off her supporters had little cause for concern.

Fahey said: "The really soft ground really suited her today. Hopefully she can climb the ladder. There's a nursery at Galway next Monday we might look at but we’ll see how she is first.”

Gallo gets up

Robyn Donaghue-Leahy produced the Pat Flynn-trained Gallo Dell Cielo in the nick of time as the pair got up late on in a blanket finish in the first division of the 1m½f handicap, in which just a length separated the first four home.
