'I like the way she quickened' - Nicky Henderson debutante cut for the Cheltenham Festival after impressive win
That's Nice was cut to 14-1 (from 33) for the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival after making a winning debut over hurdles for Nicky Henderson in the 2m3f novice.
The four-year-old daughter of Walk In The Park, a winner of an Irish point in February for Derek O'Connor, travelled smoothly throughout and barely came off the bridle to see off Listed bumper winner Honky Tonk Highway by a length and a half under Nico de Boinville.
"She's absolutely gorgeous. She just travelled nicely and jumped," Henderson told Racing TV.
"We knew she'd jump, but I can't take any of the credit. JP's four-year-olds are with Derek O'Connor for point-to-pointing and they had a good year last year. As we had her mum, the progeny come back to Seven Barrows, which is very, very nice.
"I liked the way she went about it and it was the perfect introduction. The one in front was the form horse, so it was nice to see that she could track that and quicken up. I liked the way she quickened, it was fairly instant."
Henderson added: "You'd think the trip is about right, two and a half [miles] is probably the area we'll be playing in. There's a long way to go, but I think there's some nice days ahead of us."
Castle too strong
Dual bumper winner Castle Ivers made a successful hurdling debut for Olly Murphy in the 2m maiden.
The Bective Stud-owned five-year-old finished to good effect to score by half a length under Sean Bowen and was introduced into Paddy Power's Supreme Novices' Hurdle market at 50-1.
Adam Wedge, the rider of seventh-placed Klic Boum, was suspended for 14 days and Evan Williams fined £3,000 for schooling and conditioning the horse on the racecourse by the stewards.
