'He's part of the furniture' - stable stalwart Revolutionise strikes rare turf victory for Stuart Williams

Stuart Williams enhanced his terrific record at the track this year when Revolutionise narrowly obliged in the 7f handicap.

The eight-year-old had not won on turf since June 2019, with seven of his other victories coming on the all-weather, but thrived on the grass again when running down Dion Baker to score by a neck.

Williams said: "He's a game old horse and he hadn't won on turf for a while, so it's great to find that winning touch for him.

"His all-weather runs made life quite difficult to find him a race on turf, but he's usually tough and consistent. He's part of the furniture at Diomed Stables."

Revolutionise's win took Williams' strike-rate at the Sussex track this year to 30 per cent, while winning rider Marco Ghiani took his own course strike-rate this term to 24 per cent.

The trainer added: "It's a track for specialised horses, so we pick and choose who goes there and who we think will handle it. It's always great when you have someone on board who rides it really well like Marco."

Probert prevails again

David Probert's own strong season at the track continued with a rapid double on the card.

Probert struck on Virtue Temperance in the opening 5½f nursery before White Chapel Road landed the 7f maiden. They took Probert's strike-rate at the seaside venue this year to 24 per cent.

Perfect track record

Nelson Rose landed a second course-and-distance victory with a narrow success in the 6f handicap.
