'He's just fabulous' - veteran Redarna joins Ayr greats with eighth course win
Redarna became the joint-winningmost horse in the track's history after recording an eighth course success with victory in the 7f handicap for Dianne Sayer and Gina Mangan.
The ten-year-old came from behind and held off 5-2 favourite Abduction by a neck to record a 16th win of his career and second in 2024.
Redarna boasts a 53 per cent strike-rate at the track with his eight wins coming from just 15 starts, while he finished a neck second and close fourth on two other runs at the venue.
Sayer said: "He's a wonderful little horse who tries his heart out, which he certainly did there. He's just fabulous.
"It's quite strange that he's now winning over seven [furlongs] when it always used to be eight – he's gone the opposite way to most horses.
"There's no race for him at the final meeting at Ayr, so he'll probably go to the grass now and we'll be back to give it another go next year."
Jardine joy
Andrew Mullen and Iain Jardine's plan to watch Celtic's Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund received a bit of a boost when they combined for a winner in the same green and white as the Glasgow club's colours.
Mullen guided Jonny Concrete to a half-length victory in the 6f handicap to complete a double for the trainer, who also saddled 12-1 shot Can't Stop Now to land the 1m2f handicap under Mohammed Tabti.
