Poetic Sound rates another smart prospect for the Ger Lyons stable as the gelding powered to a four-length success in the 1m4f Kilsaran Race under Colin Keane.

The three-year-old got off the mark on his second start in excellent style at Roscommon over the same trip in August but was taking a step up in class against some highly-rated rivals, most notably Chantilly who was sent off the 11-8 favourite.

Keane settled his mount in third position and he was one of the first under pressure as they swung for home but he began to blast home in the straight to go on to score comfortably with the Kevin Coleman-trained Akecheta keeping on for second, while Chantilly managed third.

"He's a gorgeous horse," Lyons told Racing TV. "He was lost halfway through at Roscommon last time but he travelled better today, so he's learning on the job. Hopefully we'll have one more run before we put him away and we'll look forward to next year with him.

"I'd say even a mile and six is his minimum trip. We could go to the November Handicap but we'll see if he's street smart enough for that."

Pietropaolo guides first winner home

Julian Pietropaolo partnered his first winner when guiding 8-1 shot Art Of Unity to a half length victory in the 5f handicap for trainer Muredach Kelly.

The 16-year-old rider was getting off the mark at the seventh attempt and was seen to excellent effect on the nine-year-old who was landing his first victory since September 2021.
