There are two things the Tingle Creek told us: one, Jonbon is better at Sandown than at Cheltenham; two, Jonbon is the horse to beat in the Champion Chase and he's most definitely the right favourite. 

Are they mutually exclusive points or can they be married? That is the poser for punters as they ponder whether 5-2 is a good price for the 2025 Champion Chase. If the race was at Sandown he would be 6-4, but it's not, so where does that leave us?

I've always thought the Cheltenham thing with Jonbon was overplayed, but then Aidan Coleman told me a few weeks ago that he always felt like a different horse around Sandown when he rode him. And the facts are the facts. He is 14-14 away from the Cotswolds and the only three defeats of his life have come there.
