'He knows what he's doing!' - Carroll delighted as Shaw delivers the goods
Tuesday: Yarmouth
Harrison Shaw's persistence paid off as he lifted Jackamundo to a first victory in over three years in the 1m3½f handicap.
Pushed along in last rounding the bend, it looked unlikely that the six-year-old would pick up, but under relentless urging from Shaw he flew home in the final furlong to win going away.
Winning trainer Declan Carroll said: "I was a little bit worried when he was such a long way back turning in, but I always leave it to Harrison, he knows what he’s doing!
"It’s a very satisfying win, it’s been quite frustrating with it being such a long time since he’s won. It was really enjoyable to see him go and win there today."
Exciting prospects
John and Thady Gosden are leading the top trainer standings at the Norfolk venue and unleashed some potential stars for next year in the two divisions of the mile fillies' novice.
The most eyecatching victory came in the first division from Bridestones who quickened up in impressive fashion to win by two and three-quarter lengths under William Buick.
The Gosdens then had the forecast in division two, with Sunbelt being driven to the front by Robert Havlin, getting the better of her Frankie Dettori-ridden stablemate Shiva Shakti, who finished a length behind in second.
