'He could win again' - old favourite Do Your Job ends lengthy drought with front-running success

Grade 2-winning veteran Do Your Job recorded a first victory since December 2023 as he bounced back to form with a dominant win in the 2m3½f handicap chase.
The seven-time scorer was a hugely impressive winner of the Future Champion Novices' Chase at Ayr just over three years ago but had struggled since, winning only once in a brief spell with Lucinda Russell.
The 11-year-old started out for the Charlie Longsdon yard just over a year ago and dropped from a mark of 135 to 115, but he relished the return to better ground as he made all to win at 10-1 under Lilly Pinchin.
Longsdon said: "He's fallen a long way down the handicap. He had wind issues and problems, so it's nice to see him win again. He got a nice lead and the better ground helped – he was a very good horse on his day.
"Things haven't been straightforward, but it's nice to get him a win. He could win another race while the ground is quick."
The victory was the trainer's 27th of the campaign, and Longsdon added: "It's been a great season for us after the difficulties of last year. We're massively down on numbers, but we've had a lot more winners. We just need more horses."
Fortune denied
A week on from Arkle success with Jango Baie, the Countrywide Park Homes silks had to settle for second with De Tellers Fortune in the 3m handicap chase. He was sent off 10-11, but was beaten three lengths by the Neil Mulholland-trained Kelce, who was ridden by Conor O'Farrell.
