Hansen makes lengthy trip to win on agent Shelley Dwyer's Trinity Girl
Shelley Dwyer had a vested interest in Trinity Girl’s two-and-a quarter-length victory in the 1m4½ fillies' handicap as agent to the winning rider Thore Hammer Hansen, aunt to the winning trainer Jessica Macey and as a part-owner of the filly herself.
Hansen was aboard the four-year-old for the first time when winning at Doncaster last time out but took some persuasion to make the lengthy trip from Lambourn for his only ride of the day.
Macey explained: "He was a bit unhappy about travelling five and a half hours but I said hopefully she’ll make it worth the time. I’ve been training since last October and that was my 11th winner today.
"We’re a small team of 14 horses and half the yard are unraced two-year-olds which aren’t ready yet so we’ve only got a handful that are running. Trinity Girl has been one of our flagbearers for us."
Dwyer was delighted to provide her niece with more immediate success on the track and said: "She’s a big, fine filly. Jess has not been training long so we bought her in October with Ian Fowler and Gary Robinson to give her something that she could go to the racecourse with fairly swiftly."
The next target for the filly who has now won three times for Macey could come closer to home for Hansen, with Dwyer joking: "We might have to go to Newbury or somewhere closer to Lambourn else I’m not sure Thor would be so keen!"
Macey's partner Lewis Edmunds also entered the winner's enclosure after narrowly taking the 6f novice on She’s The Danger for Adrian Keatley.
