Great Wall lays down a solid foundation on British debut

The Great Wall made a spectacular British debut when landing odds of 2-5 in the 7f maiden for older horses, scoring by 19 lengths on his first run for new connections.

The three-year-old Bernardini colt was bought out of Michael Callaghan's yard at Tattersalls in October for 32,000gns and is now trained by Mick Appleby for owners the Horse Watchers.

The form probably does not amount to a great deal as it was 12-1 bar two in the market and the second favourite Beyond Recall was in a foul mood and failed to run her race.
