Gordon Elliott and Sean Bowen enhance phenomenal strike-rate with Copperwell
Saturday: Perth
Sean Bowen and Gordon Elliott have formed a formidable partnership and enhanced their impressive strike-rate when Copperwell claimed the 2m maiden hurdle.
The trainer-jockey combination hold a 48 per cent win rate at the Scottish track and added another success to their record when comfortably scoring by two and a quarter lengths.
"He's done it nicely in the end," Bowen told Racing TV. "He's finished it off well considering how keen he was early. He's a horse that Gordon obviously thought would stay well as he ran him over three miles in May. He ran well dropped down to two miles last time and he's done the business today."
Lucky number 13
The number 13 is unlucky for some but not for the connections of Aye Aye Charlie, after they were rewarded for their patience when the ten-year-old broke his maiden over fences after 12 previous attempts.
The Christian Williams-trained chaser, who was placed at Grade 2 level over hurdles, was the only ride on the card for jockey Jack Tudor, who took it up two fences out and pushed clear to win by three and a quarter lengths.
No luck needed
You would have done well to find an easier winner on Saturday than the Lucinda Russell-trained Lucky Flight, who claimed the 2m handicap chase.
Winning jockey Stephen Mulqueen led from start to finish without asking any questions of the eight-year-old before cantering over the line eight lengths clear of his nearest rival.
