From Wolverhampton to the West Country: dual-purpose jockey Taylor Fisher strikes again on School For Scandal
Dual-purpose jockey Taylor Fisher made it four wins over jumps from just nine rides when guiding School For Scandal to success in the 2m7f handicap chase.
The rider is currently mixing disciplines and was out of luck at Wolverhampton on Monday evening but returned to the winner's enclosure under the grey, who measured his fences beautifully before holding off Jony Max by a neck.
It was Fisher's second victory on the Joe Tickle-trained chaser from just three starts, having beaten the same rival at Wincanton last time after missing out by just a short-head at Warwick in September.
"I'm just taking what I can," the rider told RacingTV. "I'm enjoying the jumps at the minute and the rides are there. I get more of a buzz out of the jumps but I think they all say that. I'm very happy and I'm riding nice horses."
Of School For Scandal, he added: "He's an absolute bunny, he's a hero of a horse, he's given me a lovely spin around every time and he meets them all perfectly. I just leave him alone and let him get into his own rhythm. His breathing is a big thing. One's come to him there and he's found more."
Alexei impresses
Alexei showed talent on the Flat in Germany and gave the impression he could reach a decent level over obstacles when landing the 2m3f maiden hurdle under Brendan Powell.
The four-year-old helped complete a double for trainer Joe Tizzard and owners Brocade Racing, who struck in the earlier 2m½f handicap hurdle for conditional jockeys with American Land.
