Fantastic four: Kapga De Lily continues rampant run of form
Progressive mare Kapga De Lily registered her fourth successive win this season with a comprehensive victory in the 2m7½f handicap chase for mares.
A course-and-distance winner in November, she travelled smoothly through the race and despite jumping to the right in the home straight, registered a mammoth 35-length win in testing conditions.
Lucy Turner, who had partnered her to her last two wins, was unable to ride due to the amateur jockey ban, meaning Hugh Nugent was in the saddle.
"She's a very nice and genuine mare, she makes a jockeys' job easy," he said.
"You're always questioning, if they've won three on the bounce, can they keep backing it up? Not every horse can but she did it perfectly.
"I was in front very early and you have to be genuine if you're going to win from being in front that far out."
A chaser to follow
There was a notable absentee in Coconut Splash but Le Cameleon built on his chase debut at Market Rasen to run out a ready winner of the 2m3½f novice handicap chase for David Noonan and Nick Williams.
Travelling powerfully and jumping cleanly, the imposing 11-8 favourite found enough when pressed and held off Zambezi Fix to score by four and a quarter lengths.
He is from a family Williams knows well as he is a half-brother to the stable's multiple winners Moonlighter, Horatio Hornblower and George Nympton.
