Drowne takes his chance with all-the-way win on Marmajuke
Racing's fickle game of fashion hasn't been kind to jockey Steve Drowne in recent years.
Back in 2007 he was flying, riding 106 winners, and he continued to be a man in demand until 2012 when he suffered a viral infection that interrupted the blood flow to his brain. He couldn't ride for a year, couldn't drive either, and has had just 118 winners since, including admittedly the 2013 Nunthorpe on Jwala.
However, he hasn't lost his dash by a long chalk, and he rode a welcome winner, just his third of the year, when making all the running to land the 1m3½f handicap on 16-1 shot Marmajuke Bay, who is trained by Mark Usher for the 12 members of the Ridgeway Alchemist's.
