We didn't witness the fireworks of the Curragh but Pinatubo capped a fine season in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes as he retained his perfect record.

Notable rain meant the ground at Newmarket turned soft and asked a different question of this year's leading two-year-old, but he passed it with flying colours.

A winning Racing Post Rating of 121 was a good few lengths shy of his National Stakes romp and more in line with a hugely impressive success in the Vintage Stakes.
