Course specialists Accomplice and Unforgiving Minute seal sixth Lingfield wins
Two specialists showed exactly why the horses for courses angle can pay dividends as Accomplice and Unforgiving Minute secured their sixth victories at Lingfield.
The Michael Blanshard-trained Accomplice rattled home late in a thrilling finish to the opening mile handicap under David Probert, before the Sean Curran-trained ten-year-old Unforgiving Minute matched the impressive feat when registering back-to-back wins in the 7f claimer.
Blanshard celebrated a first winner of the year with Accomplice and paid tribute to her achievements during a tough period for his yard due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"She loves a turning track and plenty of pace in the race. She's improving with age and we're so pleased, all the hard work pays off," Blanshard said.
"The syndicate [The Reignmakers] are such good people and they were all glued to the TV. I've been training for over 40 years and I've had a lot of other good horses, but you need horses like her to keep you in the picture. I love her."
Jockey Adam Kirby was similarly delighted with Unforgiving Minute and said: "He's a legend of a horse, he means a lot to me as I've won plenty on him and he's a credit to the yard."
Jazz proves class act
Father Of Jazz continued his rapid progression with an easy victory in the feature 1m2f handicap, retaining his unbeaten record since joining Roger Varian.
O'Neill taken to hospital
Kieran O'Neill was taken to hospital for further assessment following a horrific fall in the concluding 1m2f handicap, in which his mount Goodwood Showman suffered a fatal injury.
