Consistent Shenanigans lands deserved Listed success for Varian
Having finished second on three occasions in Listed company as well as being third in a Group 3, Shenanigans finally had her day in the sun when running out a decisive winner of the 1m2f £50,000 Listed Tennent's Lager EBF Rothesay Stakes.
Sent off the 11-10 favourite, the daughter of Arcano quickened up well to score by a length and three quarters from Exhort, the pair finishing eight lengths clear of the remainder.
It was a second success in the race for trainer Roger Varian, and the five-year-old was also maintaining the 100 per cent course record for rider Andrea Atzeni, who said: "I'm delighted she has now won a Listed race. It was a bold decision by her owners to keep her in training as a five-year-old and it has paid off for them."
