Chambard gives Venetia Williams her second Cheltenham winner of the week
Thursday: Kim Muir, Cheltenham
Amateur jockey Lucy Turner was left struggling for words after guiding Chambard to a 40-1 victory at Cheltenham, in doing so providing trainer Venetia Williams with a second winner of this year's Cheltenham Festival.
Turner, the daughter of Williams's former head lad Philip Turner, was winning for a fourth time this season on Chambard, whose connections had sent him to Huntingdon to land a three-runner contest this month due to concerns he would not make it into the race at Cheltenham without a 5lb penalty.
The plan worked at Huntingdon and it worked at Cheltenham as well, with Chambard jumping and travelling strongly throughout for Turner, before keeping on strongly up the hill to take victory.
Didero Vallis, a stablemate of the winner who is looked after by Turner at home, finished third at 66-1 with Mister Coffey, who had travelled well but failed to match the winner's finishing effort, taking second for Nicky Henderson and Sam Waley-Cohen.
"It's absolutely unbelievable, it's what you dream of," Turner said. "I'd have been happy to have a winner at the hunter chase meeting, but this tops that!
"I left it up to him and he told me where he wanted to go and when he wanted to go. He was tanking down the back and jumping from fence to fence. He kept finding for me, he was unbelievable. I can't describe it really."

Chambard added to the successful week of Williams, who captured the Grade 1 Brown Advisory Novices' Chase with L'Homme Presse as well as saddling Funambule Sivola to finish second in the Grade 1 Queen Mother Champion Chase.
"I am so thrilled for Lucy and the owners Dave and Carol Shaw, they've had to be so patient. He's finally putting his best foot forward and it's been really amazing.
"I'm very particular about how I like the riders to ride and Lucy's been with us since she was in the pony club. She rides in the forward style we love to see from Charlie Deutsch and horses run for her."
