Bright things await Sign Again after long trip north pays off for Charlie Longsdon
Sign Again was hailed as a smart prospect for the future by Charlie Longsdon after he doubled his tally over obstacles in the 2m4f novice hurdle.
The four-year-old was pushed out by Lilly Pinchin to defeat 5-6 favourite Pigeon House and follow up a wide-margin victory on his hurdles debut at Plumpton.
Longsdon could consider the Listed Sidney Banks Novices' Hurdle at Huntingdon on February 6, although the trainer is favouring a more patient approach.
"He's a nice horse," said Longsdon. "We'll take our time with him as he's a bit of a baby still but he's good.
"The Jennie Candlish horse [Pigeon House] had some good form but we were carrying 5lb less, so it was the right thing to do to take our chance and see what we could do.
"He'll be a nice chaser in time, so we won't hurry him. I think we'll try off a double penalty next with a claimer on although we might take a look at the Sidney Banks."
The Candlish stable did manage to strike when I'm Too Tired finished strongly to defeat Fearless Action in the final stages of the 2m½f handicap chase.
Trainer to watch
Phil Kirby is the winningmost trainer at Sedgefield this season and extended his tally at the track to seven when Achnamara landed the 2m4f handicap hurdle.
