Brave Brigadier brings up doubles for Danny Murphy and Donagh O'Connor at Dundalk
Odds-on favourite Brigadier Kakuru completed a double for both Danny Murphy and Donagh O'Connor in the 6f event for three-year-olds.
A winner over course and distance last month, Brigadier Kakuru was sent off 4-5 to repeat the feat and he did so by the skin of his teeth, seeing off Suerte by a head after a ding-dong duel.
Earlier on the card, Murphy sent out Tribal Moon to land the mile apprentice handicap at odds of 11-2 under Paddy Harnett.
Just as was the case with Brigadier Kakuru, Tribal Moon made most of the running and fended off the late surge of Morning Approach by half a length.
The first leg of O'Connor's double arrived in the mile handicap on Lost President.
Having only his second start in handicaps, Lost President drifted out to 100-30, having been as short as 2-1 in the morning, but he defied the drift with a gritty display, scoring by three-quarters of a length from Senior Montecristo.
Roche also on the double
Leigh Roche was another to register a double.
The Tuam native was successful on board the Pat Murphy-trained Fly To Glory in the 6f handicap and 11-10 favourite Cousin Shay for Natalia Lupini in the second division of the 1m2½f handicap.
