Badger Beer hero Callum Pritchard strikes again on Densworth to lose 10lb claim
No wonder he was smiling so broadly. It was another great Saturday for Callum Pritchard, who followed up Badger Beer Chase success on Al Dancer by taking the feature 2m3½f handicap chase on Densworth.
He also won a decent staying chase at Bangor in midweek and this victory means he can no longer claim 10lb when riding for boss Ben Pauling.
"Things couldn't be going any better at the minute," the jockey said. "I'm getting put on nice horses for the right people so it means the world.
"It's not done without the owners and trainers backing me and everyone around me giving me the help and support to ride these nice horses. Without the horse you'd be nothing."
Serious result for McCain
Donald McCain ended 15 days without a winner when 1-2 favourite Serious Chat took the 2m3½f novice hurdle under Brian Hughes.
But the trainer had not been concerned about his quiet run, which he put down to his policy of avoiding easier races on quicker ground during the long dry spell.
"The horses are running really well but all the youngsters are going to the toughest races as they are on the safest ground and they're running well to be second or third," he said.
"It's frustrating but I hope it will pay off in the long term because they're nice horses."
Man in form
Conditional jockey Lewis Saunders made it four winners from five rides in November when he and Act Of Authority followed up last Sunday's Sandown success in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle.
Owner Diana Whateley's representative Colin Asquith said: "It was never in any doubt. He could possibly have a break now and then step up grade."
