Lambourn trainer Raphael Freire believes Tuscan Hills has an exciting future after he extended his winning run with an impressive performance in the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes.

Partnered by David Egan, the son of Night Of Thunder produced a powerful turn of foot to finish clear of Calla Lagoon.

Tuscan Hills was following up his successful debut at Thirsk and Freire, who trains for Amo Racing, was delighted he was able to step up to Listed company.

He said: "We all thought of him as a nice horse and he's done everything right at home. We wanted to start him off over a mile like we did at Thirsk and we felt that, with the way he won, we'd move him up in company.

"We thought he'd enjoy the ground, although the track was a bit of a concern because of the undulations. However, he did it nicely in the end and he's a nice horse to look forward to in the future."

The juvenile holds an early entry for next year's Irish 2,000 Guineas and will likely be put away for next season.

Freire added: "We're going to have plenty to look forward to. He's showed us he gets the mile fine, but with the way he won suggests he'll stay a bit further and that's what you want to see from a two-year-old before their three-year-old season. Hopefully, he keeps going the right way and we can have a lot of fun with him."

What a star

Sophia's Starlight recorded her seventh career victory for trainer Grant Tuer in the 6f fillies' handicap.
