'All roads lead to Cheltenham' - Zambella team in bubbly mood after easy win
Saturday: Uttoxeter
Zambella cemented her Cheltenham Festival claims with an effortless success in the 2m4f mares' chase for trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies.
The seven-year-old, a five-time winner at Listed level, remained at 14-1 with the sponsors for the Mrs Paddy Power Mares' Chase after stretching 28 lengths clear of Belle De Manech under Jordan Nailor.
Anthony Bromley, racing manager to owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, said: "We're really pleased to get Zambella back to winning ways. We made an error running her back too quickly last time after her good win at Doncaster and Nigel freshened her up for this. All roads lead to the mares' chase at Cheltenham."
Hughes treble
Brian Hughes set himself the target of 200 winners this season after riding his 150th on Monday and he continued his remarkable run of form when winning the 2m handicap chase on Heartbreak Kid.
The jockey, who has ridden a winner every day this week, finished seven lengths clear of Le Ligerien on the seven-year-old, who provided trainer Donald McCain with his third successive victory.
Hughes and McCain doubled up when taking the maiden hurdle with Barrowdale before the in-form jockey added a third success on the Martin Keighley-trained Breizh Alko, who won on his second chase start at the age of 11.
Courage best
Corey's Courage maintained her unbeaten record when landing the mares' novice hurdle for Olly Murphy and jockey Fergus Gregory.
"She got the job done," said Murphy. "She's still raw and green, so there's plenty of improvement to come. We'll step her up in class."
