Racecourses warn of potential £300 million hit to 2020 revenues

Britain's racecourses are expected to lose up to £300 million in revenues this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and fear 2021 could be worse if conditions do not improve.

Racecourse Association (RCA) chief executive David Armstrong said he was worried some tracks would be in trouble if restrictions on crowds continue for an extended period.

He was speaking as the RCA prepared to release figures it hoped would throw fresh light on the financial situation facing racecourses and provide the transparency called for by the Horsemen's Group (HG).
