With The Moonlight cut to 8-1 (from 40) for Oaks after easy Pretty Polly win
Charlie Appleby has been on a quest to unearth a decent three-year-old filly to match his high-calibre colts and ticked that box when With The Moonlight gave him an emphatic success in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes, which saw her odds slashed for the Cazoo Oaks.
The daughter of Frankel exposed the stamina limitations of many of the opposition when making most in the hands of William Buick to see off gallant 50-1 chance Mashaaer.
Appleby will have high hopes of adding another Classic victory to his CV on June 3 after his winner was cut to a general 8-1 (from 40) for the Oaks.

The Godolphin trainer said: "With The Moonlight had a nice profile as a two-year-old and her work has been good this spring. I said to William to ride her positively and I could see we were in business three out when a few of the others were under the pump. I'd say she ticks a fair few boxes as an Oaks candidate."
Scenes were almost as joyous in the runner-up spot, where trainer Henry Spiller welcomed back Mashaaer.
He said: "This is a huge result for us and no surprise. She's not in the Oaks but she's in the French equivalent and could well head there."
Dreamland for Walker
Kieran Shoemark won the Group 2 Dahlia Stakes on Lady Bowthorpe a year ago and followed up when Dreamloper got up to deny Ville De Grace by a nose.
The Ed Walker-trained filly is on the same path as last year's winner, as she came from running in the Sun Chariot Stakes last autumn and is now on her way to the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.
Walker gave plenty of credit to groom Molly Stratton for Dreamloper's development, saying: “I’ve thought plenty of this filly but she has been quite difficult to train and Molly, who rides her every day, has done a fantastic job. She's hard work as she's keen, very fresh and exuberant.
“Today I asked Molly where she wanted to saddle her and where she wanted to leg the jockey up, as she knows her inside out. All the credit goes to her, I just have my name beside her.
“I’ve put her in the Queen Anne, hoping she would win today, and then there would be no point going for the Duke of Cambridge. The stiff mile at Ascot will be fine but the Nassau is her race and we'll work back from that.”
Baker gets the dough
The new £100,000 1m6f handicap was the longest race ever staged at the Guineas meeting and was won in fine style by well-backed 100-30 favourite Cemhaan.
Hollie Doyle's mount, well bought at £32,000 by former jockey Ted Durcan at Doncaster last year, made it two out of two this season when outgunning Revolver.
Trainer George Baker said: "He improved so much over the winter and did that very well considering how free he was through the race. He could sneak into an Ebor in time and he's a fun horse to have."
Miami heat
Richard Hannon won the opening 5f maiden for the second time in four years when Miami Girl powered out of the Dip to put Beautiful Sunrise in the shade.
The daughter of Cotai Glory carried the colours of Amo Racing to an easy five-and-a-half-length win under Rossa Ryan to earn an opening quote of 10-1 from Betfair Sportsbook for the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Hannon, who took the opener with subsequent dual Group 2 winner Threat in 2019, said: "I thought Rossa sent her on plenty soon enough but it was a good performance as there were a few fancied in it. It's nice to have a winner here in these colours for a change. She could well be on the Royal Ascot team after that."
Hannon doubled up on the card with Desert Angel, ridden by Ryan Moore, in the 1m2f handicap.
