'Very good' apprentice Tabti shines on progressive three-year-old Leap Abroad

Oliver Cole was full of praise for apprentice Mohammed Tabti, who partnered the co-trainer's Leap Abroad to a convincing victory in the 6f handicap.

The consistent three-year-old hadn't previously won on turf, but Tabti rode him with plenty of confidence, making all to win by four and a quarter lengths.

Cole said: "He's our apprentice, he seems to be very good from the front and I think he's had four or five winners for us all from the front which is pretty good.

"Leap Abroad is a lovely horse. He's improving and hopefully there's more to come so it's onwards and upwards. I think fitness-wise he's come on from his last run."

The last two winners of the race, Gale Force Maya and Bergerac, went on to be rated 100 and 90 respectively and have won their fair share of prize-money in valuable handicaps so the omens are good for the winner.

Genuine Global

Front-running rides were the order of the day, and Global Spirit was brave in winning the mile handicap, pulling out all the stops to beat Yanifer and Eilean Dubh by two heads.

Boughey tunes up for Guineas

George Boughey will send out Cachet in the 1,000 Guineas on Sunday, and his Missed The Cut was an emphatic winner of the maiden to complete an across-the-card double for the stable.
