Punters' body calls for minimum bet liability in submission to gambling review

The Horseracing Bettors Forum has called for bookmakers to provide an Australian-style minimum bet liability in the group's submission to the government's call for evidence on the Gambling Act review, which closes on Wednesday.

In its submission, the HBF has said it believes bookmakers should accept bets from all their account-holders and not just those who they believe make a loss.

To ensure this, they would like a similar system to that existing in Australia put in place, whereby bookmakers have accepted a requirement to lose up to a designated amount on each bet, depending on other conditions such as the type of fixture.
