Paddy Power offer £100k bonus for a British-trained win in Punchestown Grade 1
Gary Moore has confirmed Goshen will be aimed at the Grade 1 Punchestown Champion Hurdle on April 30, with bookmakers Paddy Power adding extra incentive through a £100,000 bonus.
Honeysuckle will face at least one British challenger should she go to the Punchestown festival with trainer Moore on Monday confirming Goshen for the rematch.
And on Tuesday Paddy Power announced they are offering a six-figure bonus to any British-trained runner who travels to Punchestown and wins the Champion Hurdle, a race the bookmaker sponsor.
The cheeky incentive comes after Ireland dominated last month's Cheltenham Festival, winning 23 of the 28 races.
Spokesperson Paddy Power said: "We gave the Brits a beating at Cheltenham and now we're laying down a challenge to the tune of £100k – come and have a go if you think you're good enough.
"Honeysuckle blew her rivals away last month and will be well fancied for the Paddy Power Champion Hurdle at Punchestown but now there's an extra cash incentive for any British raider who thinks they can dethrone the queen."
Honeysuckle and Goshen were contesting favouritism for the Champion Hurdle in the ante-post market, but on the day of the race all the money came for 11-10 favourite Honeysuckle, with Goshen drifting out to 11-2.
That proved prescient as Gosden hung badly right throughout and finished adrift in eighth.
Moore vowed not to run Goshen at left-handed Cheltenham again and believes racing the other way around at Punchestown will suit.
Honeysuckle won by six and a half lengths at Cheltenham, but Moore is not backing down and maintains the faith in his wildly impressive Kingwell Hurdle winner.
"He's grand and goes to Ireland," Moore said after saddling the first winner at Plumpton on Easter Monday. "We'll put a line through Cheltenham and not go there again. He hates the place. He isn't a bad horse but he just doesn't like going left-handed.
"He's had a bone scan and we can't find anything wrong. His T6 and T7 were slightly out in his neck but don't tell me that was the reason. He's got an aversion to going left-handed. He's by Authorized who is by Montjeu, they all have a little kink in their head."
On the menacing presence of Honeysuckle among the likely opposition, Moore said: "She's pretty impressive. I'm not going to say we will beat her as I'll make myself look an idiot and I do that too often already."
Honeysuckle is the 4-6 favourite for the Punchestown Champion Hurdle with Goshen priced at 10-1 with Paddy Power and Betfair Sportsbook.
