Willie Mullins' first runner at Sedgefield and he targets Tramore race he won with Gaelic Warrior - punting pointers for Tuesday

Punting pointers from each of today's race meetings . . .

Sedgefield: Aprahamian takes aim with hat-trick bidder

Mutual Respect has been arguably the beneficiary of some lenient handicapping and attempts to complete a hat-trick in Sedgefield's 2m½f handicap chase (2.00).

The Billy Aprahamian-trained eight-year-old has made the frame on five of his last six starts, winning three of those off a mark of 93.

He has been raised only 2lb for his latest success at Bangor, where 15-8 favourite Copernic Du Mazet was in front of him when falling two out. Mary also fell at the final fence when six lengths clear at Worcester on Mutual Respect's penultimate start before the latter beat Moodofthemoment, who has won both his starts since, by a neck, with fellow subsequent winner Lermoos Legend in third.

Aprahamian said: "He's in great nick and the race should suit him well. He's on a hat-trick and while he's been lucky to get there, the obstacles are there to be jumped. He's had his fair share of bad luck too."

The trainer has another last-time-out winner in Pep Talking, who is bidding to back up his Uttoxeter success in the 2m5f handicap chase (3.00).

"He probably just needed his first run for us after a break," he said. "Although he's won over two miles, I always thought he wanted further and he definitely stayed every yard of the trip [2m4f] at Uttoxeter. I was super-happy with him there and although he's gone up five pounds, I think he can shake that off."

Sedgefield stat: Sedgefield first for Mullins

Four of Willie Mullins' 14 runners in Britain this season have won and the champion trainer could enhance that 29 per cent strike-rate if his first runner at Sedgefield, Mr Escobar, obliges in the opening 2m1f novice hurdle (12.55).

Southwell: Horsfall bids for career-best season

Laura Horsfall had her first Ascot winner on Saturday courtesy of 22-1 shot Jalisco Star and the trainer attempts another course breakthrough when Lexie's Moon contests Southwell's 2m4½f novice handicap hurdle (1.40).

The six-year-old shares top weight with Broughshane and is rated 4lb higher than when winning at Stratford last month. Kevin Brogan was on board that day and for Jalisco Star's victory, and he could supply Horsfall with her first winner at Southwell with her eighth jumps runner at the Nottinghamshire venue.

Horsfall has already matched her tally of three winners achieved in both the last two seasons and success for her sole representative of the day would seal a career-best haul.

Southwell stat: O'Brien out to improve track strike-rate

Paul O'Brien has ridden three winners from seven rides at Southwell this season and he could enhance that 43 per cent strike-rate with handicap debutant The Blueberry One (1.40) the pick of his four mounts for trainer Harry Derham.

Tramore: Gigginstown-Mullins runner to note

Karniquet will be only the second Willie Mullins-trained runner to represent the colours of Gigginstown House Stud this season when he runs in Tramore's opening 2m maiden hurdle (12.45).

Michael O'Leary's operation did not have runners with Mullins for six years but have had six winners from 18 representatives sent out by the champion trainer since they reignited their working relationship in 2022.

Karniquet was described as "a sharp individual" and potentially "a name worth remembering" by Mullins in his Racing Post stable tour and the fact the four-year-old is making his stable debut in a race stablemate Gaelic Warrior won by 86 lengths in 2022 is intriguing.

Subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner Laurina also won this on her first start for Mullins after running twice over hurdles in France and Karniquet will attempt to emulate that 2017 winner, having finished second at Pau and Auteuil for Isabelle Pacault.
