Anyone who has ever watched a Formula 1 Grand Prix would probably agree the most exciting part of most races is the start, when the drivers manoeuvre for position as they head towards the all-important first turn. There are often three or four cars abreast as they reach it.

That is what came to mind when I watched the closing stages of this race last year. Enrilo was in pole position turning for home, but a bad mistake at the second-last put a spanner in the works and he was flanked on all sides as he tried to hold on up Sandown’s famous run-in.
