Three things to note on Friday - Jonathan Harding casts his eye over the day's action

1 - Another one to watch for JP McManus

It will be interesting to see how the JP McManus-owned Milan Tino fares on his return to Britain in the Safer Gambling Week "National Hunt" Maiden Hurdle (12.20) at Ascot. The four-year-old, trained in France by Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm, was sixth after being sent off favourite for the Boodles at the Cheltenham Festival and is attempting to bounce back after unseating and finishing down the field in two Grade 3s at Auteuil this season. He is still relatively lightly raced and could take all the beating at this level.

2 - Thomas's Celtic open to improvement

The Troy Asset Management "Introductory" Hurdle (1.30) at Ascot looks a competitive affair and the early market has struggled to split Celtic Dino and the Nicky Henderson-trained Joyeuse, who scored on her British debut after being purchased from France for €235,000. Sam Thomas's Celtic Dino won two of his three starts in bumpers last season before catching the eye with a 14-length win over hurdles at Wincanton last month and looks open to plenty of improvement.

3 - Form line worth following at Chepstow

Billytherealbigred, who lines up in the Ark Childrens Hospital Charity Handicap Chase (2.15) at Chepstow, would probably be unbeaten for Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero were it not for falling when he was sent off favourite for a handicap hurdle at Ayr in April. The four-year-old, who joined from Evan Williams in March, made a strong impression on his chasing debut last month, winning by 14 lengths on soft ground at Bangor. The second and third have won since, so the form looks reasonable. His chief danger could be Range, who was a faller on his first start over fences.
